Things You Auto Know For Winter Engine Care, including what the ratio for antifreeze to water should be in cold climates for your engine

In extremely cold climates you put pure antifreeze in the cooling system, right?

WRONG!
Never use more than 70% antifreeze / 30% water.
On a cold morning allow your engine to run at idle speed only for a minute or two before starting out. Then drive moderately until it warms up. Warming up the engine for more heat inside the car may be nice for the driver, but it's hard on the engine.
An annual physical is a good idea for your family vehicle. It can detect a problem before it turns into a costly expenditure or a safety hazard.
